Art Around the Town

Visit all your library branches and Town Hall to explore the works of local artists. See some of our past exhibitions.

Making Change gathered groups of people together with no art experience, to share things about our different cultures and spark conversations. Everyone painted a 4X4 wooden tiles, with cultural elements. The Mosaic Tile project was on going through 2022-23 at various events, the mural “Cultures Across Simcoe County” is currently on display at our Lakeshore Branch until April 1, 2024.

Visit our Collaborative Community Ice Art Hut Project, on display at our Lakeshore Branch until Spring 2024.

The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, in partnership with the Town of Innisfil and local ice fishing hut operator Gail’s Hotbox Ice Huts, are thrilled to reveal a collaborative community art piece. As part of the Ice Art Hut project, residents had the opportunity to paint small wooden fish created in the HackLAB this past summer bringing together community members of all ages. The result is a vibrant collection of wooden fish sculptures adhered to an ice hut that will be on display at the Lakeshore Branch until Spring 2024.

This project spanned the entire summer of 2023, residents young and old came together to try their hand at art. This initiative built upon the success of previous ice hut artists, some of him who graced the project this year with larger-than-life fish-themed art. The project’s success lies in its collaborative nature. Neighbours joined forces to create unique and colorful fish, demonstrating the power of community engagement in the world of art. Each fish is a testament to the creativity and skill of residents, and collectively, they symbolize the unity of the community. The hundreds of wooden fish, lovingly crafted and painted, have now found their new home and were installed live during our 9th annual MakerFEST. Stop by this winter and view this amazing community project!

Our Lakeshore Branch is now home to the first Peace Pole in Innisfil, painted by local artist Jamie Hardie.

Led by the Rotary Club of Innisfil, seven Peace Poles will be installed across the Town of Innisfil. Peace Poles are an internationally recognized movement, find out more here: https://worldpeace.org/peacepoleproject/

We are pleased to showcase some artworks from our amazingly talented staff! On display now at our Lakeshore Branch.
