Frequently asked questions:
I just got a new ebook reader. Will it work with the library's ebooks?
Check Overdrive's Device Resource Centre to see if your device is on the compatible list, then use the Getting Started Guide to get personalized instructions for your reader. Kindles cannot be used with the library collections in Canada at this time.
What do I need to start downloading?
You need your library card number and your library account must be in good standing. You must have an internet connection to your computer/device. You must have downloaded the Overdrive Media Console software/Overdrive app, and Adobe Digital Editions if you're using your computer to transfer ebooks from a computer to a device. See the Getting Started Guide for more information.
I can't get in to Libraries on the Go or PULSE. Help!
Library accounts expire once a year so that your librarians can make sure we have the correct contact information on file for you. Call or visit us to make sure your account hasn't expired!
I can't find any ebooks to download on Libraries on the Go and PULSE - everything is checked out!
We appreciate your patience. Ebooks are always in high demand, especially at the holiday season with the high number of new device activations. You can limit your searches to only show titles which are currently available to download, which should help you find some interesting titles to borrow. You will also find ebooks, audiobooks, and comic books available for streaming on demand through Hoopla if you have a tablet or computer and you're willing to stream your content instead of downloading it.
I still need more help!
You've got it! Ask for a Check Out A Skill appointment and "borrow" a librarian for one hour in the branch of your choice to help you with your e-reader questions. Stop by the circulation desk at your nearest branch to make an appointment. Assistance is also available online through our Ask a Librarian service.
